January fail!!!

So you may be wondering what happened to me and my resolution to post more regularly. Well, the very next day after I posted it up I got sick. And I mean really sick. Temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius sick!!! And that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the month. Everything that I had planned and hoped to do went down the drain. I was so frustrated with my body and its weakness. I’m not so often very sick, but when I am, it’s usually a big deal. On top of that, I had to deal with bad family issues and disappointing circumstances. The one thing that I thought would happen, that would make January not be a total fail, didn’t go through. Ugh!

So what do you do when you plan your life life, but life happens? I had printed out the yearly goals printout from Philofaxy and had an actual plan roughly sketched out for my goals. This year would be the year that I make some goals AND achieve them! I don’t January to set the tone for the rest of the year…

So I’ve pushed the “reset” button!

That seems to be the only solution I can think of for myself right now. Like a gadget that gets frozen or starts malfunctioning, I need to do a reboot. Almost pretend that January didn’t happen, and start afresh this month. Unfortunately I’m that kind of person who usually says “oh well since I’ve spent money today in my ‘no-spend’ month, then I’m going to scrap it all together “. If I make one mistake, then everything is ruined. I don’t know if that’s the perfectionist or the drama queen in me :D. But I want to change that. Sometimes good enough is ok…just typing that gives me butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know when I became so unforgiving of myself…

Anyway, let’s see what the rest of the year brings. How do you guys handle such situations? Do you easily pick yourself up after a fall? What are your strategies to get back on track?

‘Till next time
